Koning Juan Carlos kondigt aan af te willen treden

This morning the Prime Minister Rajoy announced that the king wil abdicate. Today is an official document signed where the intention is made, but for the real abdication of the Constitution he has to wait for a change of the constitution. Therefor the parliament should give permission. The parlemaiment must also agree to the accession of Felipe. Spanish media expect that's handled fairly quickly. Around the official abdication of King Juan Carlos and the inauguration of King Filipe I will give more attention to the Spanish monarchy. These logs I will translate into English.

Vanmorgen werd bekend dat na Nederland en België er in  Spanje een troonswisseling zal komen. In tegenstelling tot in Nederland en Belgie maakte de koning dat niet zelf bekend , maar liet premier Rajoy het nieuws weten. De koning nam die beslissing al maanden geleden. Op 5 januari, toen hij 76 werd, vertelde hij Felipe dat hij troonsafstand gaat doen. Premier Rajoy werd eind maart van het besluit op de hoogte gebracht. Vandaag is een  officieel stuk getekend waar het voornemen kenbaar wordt gemaakt, maar voor de echte abdicatie moet de grondwet worden aangepast en moet het parlement akkoord gaan met de troonsbestijging van Felipe. Spaanse media verwachten dat dat vrij snel is afgehandeld. Voor nu houd ik het hierbij. Rond de troonswisseling zelf zal ik meer aandacht besteden aan de Spaanse monarchie (en uiteraard de troonswisseling zelf)
